The Danbury High School Peer Leadership program is holding a walk-a-thon to raise funds, as well as awareness, about the current situation in Darfur. Join us on Saturday, April 28th rain or shine to walk for the future of the Darfur civilians. Bring the family! All proceeds go to the Darfur Chapter of the Save the Children foundation.

The UN calls Darfur the worst humanitarian situation in the world. In 2004, Congress and the president declared the crisis to be genocide. In the western region of Sudan, Africa, more than 2.5 million lives are displaced. With danger increasing daily, food and health is limited.

The impact of violence, disease, malnutrition and dependency is leaving a mark on this generation of children, weakening their capacity and trapping them in the cycle of poverty. In the camps many lack proper food, clean water, medical care and shelter. Compared to 2005, fewer resources are currently available for all aid agencies.

Entry fee is $20 per adult, $15 for children 17 and under and members of a group; children 5 and under are free. The fee includes a T-shirt and water and snacks during walk. Activities and entertainment will follow after the walk. We encourage walkers to seek sponsors for the Walk-a-Thon. All proceeds go to the Darfur Chapter of the Save the Children foundation.

Companies and organizations are encouraged to walk as a group. Simply give your organization a group affiliation name, register and complete the “Team Information” form.

The Danbury High School Peer Leadership program engages in community service programs and contributes community service time to projects benefiting the Danbury and broader community.

1. Each participating walker must complete a registration form. If the participant is under
   18 years of age a parent or guardian approval is required.
2. We encourage walkers to solicit sponsors. Print the Walker Sponsor form for each
    participant. Use this form to keep track of your sponsors and donors. Bring the
    completed form and pre-paid donations to check-in on the walk day.

For Companies and Organizations
Companies and organizations can walk as a group. Simply give your organization a group affiliation name.
1. Complete the online Team Registration form. This provides us with team information
    so that we can prepare for your team ahead of time.

2. Print the “Team Information” form and give a copy to all members of your group.
    The “Team Information” Form will help you and us organize your team.
